Meet our Members: Baby BeeHinds

This week, we meet ANA Industry Member and owner of Baby BeeHinds, Leanne Tubby.

Tell us about your background. What did you do in your past life, before children? Before cloth nappies!

Having worked in Corporate Sales & Recruitment for the last 9 years, after selling our business we decided it was time to get out of Sydney for a ”Lake Change” so we landed in a beautiful part of the world – Lake Macquarie – to recharge the batteries, make babies and figure out what was the next business venture.

I think all the fresh air rubbed off quite nicely. After my son Harrsion was born, I quickly fell into loving modern cloth nappies (well actually only Baby BeeHinds) and never looked back. When the opportunity arose through a friend of ours to buy Baby BeeHinds, it was an opportunity not to be missed.

A product I love. A company with a long standing reputation. And I get to work with mums and bubs all day, every day. Perfect.

So here we are the proud owners of Baby BeeHinds with lots of cool things in store.

Baby BeeHinds - go behind the scenes!

Tell us about your journey into the cloth nappy industry.

Since taking over Baby BeeHinds in January 2014, it’s been a huge learning curve for us, especially working to improve the relationships with our stockists nationally.

We have listened to our consultants, our stockists, our customers and really understand what they want, and have been working hard to improve all areas of the business.

My son is now three and has been the perfect guinea pig for our new Toilet Training/Pull Ups but sadly he is out of nappies now. Luckily Isla (19 months) still has a while to go to for fill my cloth nappy addiction and continue as my product tester!

How has the cloth nappy industry changed since you started your business?

The ANA getting off the ground is hugely exciting. To see a dedicated resource for mums with absolute clarity on washing advice and consistent definitions is huge here.

There is a lot of information our there through various Facebook groups (some of which is not so helpful) so the ANA is a great spot to direct any new or experienced cloth mums to for all those questions.

What is the hardest thing about running your own business?

Choosing new prints!

What’s one thing you know now that you wish you’d known when you started your business?

How to stop dreaming about cloth nappies … but that hasn’t happened. Think I’ll continue to have random cloth nappy dreams every night even when my baby is out of cloth!

Who helps you run your business?

Luke who is our super spunky (back-up) customer service manager / warehouse manager / accounts / lay-by manager / behind the BeeHinds man.

We have some great girls in the warehouse – Emily, Eve and Cara – who patiently pack & ship all our customer’s orders.

We have 20 Baby BeeHinds consultants across Australia who run nappy parties, demos, market stalls spreading the Baby BeeHinds love.

And we have hundreds of stockists in Australia and internationally who help promote the Baby BeeHinds brand. Big or small, we love them all.

What do you do to relax?

Boating and picnics on the lake with the family, working in our huge veggie patch (which has been neglected since running Baby BeeHinds!) and enjoying a glass of good wine at the end of each day watching my Harrison destroying my lounge room building his ‘home’ (aka cubby

house), and Isla knocking it down.

The occasional mani/pedi is my ultimate relaxation… not that nail polish lasts for long in my life!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Never, never, never give up because even a brick wants to be something.

Baby BeeHinds - Meet Leanne Tubby

What’s something you’d like your kids to remember about you?

Letting them be free spirited individuals who taught them to love for themselves first, their family second, their friends third and the rest of the world can follow them along for a beautiful ride.

Tell us your favourite quote or saying.

“Mummy, you’re my best friend,” Harrsion says every morning when he wakes me up at 5:30. Makes those early starts a little more bearable.

Is there anything else you think our readers would love to know about you or your business?

If there is a product you would love to see developed or ways to improve please get in touch with us at Baby BeeHinds Headquarters.
