This week we’re celebrating Australia’s multibrand cloth nappy retail businesses. We’ll introduce you to some business owners passionate about reusable nappies, sharing their wide knowledge and experience. A multibrand retailer is a great place to start if you’re new to cloth nappies, as they have a wide experience of different brands and knowledge across all areas and can help narrow down the options to suit your family.

My name is Samantha and I own Mumma Loves Bubba – a multibrand cloth nappy retailer – and also run Cloth Nappies for Charity.

In November 2017 I had the opportunity to purchase Mumma Loves Bubba from the previous owner so decided to take the chance. I had been selling cloth nappies since mid 2014 as a consultant and decided I was ready to have my own business if the opportunity popped up as Cloth had become a bit of a passion. I wanted to purchase an already established business purely because I’m not a huge risk taker and didn’t believe I could create an entirely new business alongside everything else I had to do. I am a trained primary school teacher and have a masters of education but haven’t taught since having kids who hate sleep, I do miss it dearly though. I also work part time and run Cloth Nappies for Charity.

My first year of taking over the business was a rough one due to my 3rd HG pregnancy that also involved a few other complications but I managed with the support of my husband and there have been many ups and downs but my love for Cloth grows. I have been slowly regrowing our cloth range in order for people to be able to find a range of brands in one place as I’m a big believer that no one brand suits everyone or every baby (even from the same family) in that fact.

I love supporting other Australian owned companies and mainly stock Australian owned brands, Mumma Loves Bubba used to stock a range of handmade brands along with factory made and I’m hoping to one day in the near future increase this again.

Every brand we currently stock I have personally used along our Cloth journey. I have had a child in Cloth since 2011 and have seen a world of changes and many brands come and go, therefore I love being able to help people troubleshoot wherever I can. I’ve become a real sucker for prints and love seeing the combinations people pick.

My favourite thing about owning my store is definitely packing orders and seeing people happy with what they have ordered. Demo’s are another one of my favourite things to do, a perfect excuse to talk non stop about Cloth but unfortunately COVID has meant these haven’t happen very much in the last year and a half.

As a very small business I have big plans and over time am hoping to grow and expand our range. The biggest challenge I have found though with owning my own business is showing my face or making phone calls due to suffering social anxiety.
